40,000 mantis shrimp are caught and prepared for the festival each year, the Otaru breed of which are famous for being larger and more delicious than those caught in other regions. Eat your fill of boiled shrimp, along with a host of original recipes prepared by the master chefs of Otaru city.

Yuushien Garden Autumn Leaves Light-Up

Yuushien Garden helds the peony festival at the season of Japanese peonies in Daikonshima known as a home of Japanese peonies and Korean ginseng. In addition to the events on the special stage, an exhibition showing 350 peonies is a must-see highlight of this annual festival.

All Japan Persimmon Seed Scattering Contest

Many participants gather from across Japan for the event every year. Every year sees many participants gathering from across Japan. After eating the special persimmons grown in Nanbu Town, they compete to scatter the seeds as far as possible. The winners get a free Hawai Tour ticket and other novelty items.
