Sightseeing Information

Matsue Castle

Matsue Castle still keeps its original form and shape since it was founded in 1611. It is one of 12 castles in the country that have retained their central keeps standing. For this reason amongst others, Matsue Castle has been registered as a National Treasure since 2015. The contrast between the black panels and white walls looks very distinguished and it creates a simple yet strong structure of the castle. Visitors can go up to the keep and get a great view of entire Matuse City. Also, historical suits of armor are displayed inside and people can learn the history of the castle. The sightseeing boat that travels around Horikawa moat that surrounds the castle is a popular tourist attraction.
